5 Conclusions

This study demonstrates that vitamin D deficiency could influence the level of insulin-like growth factor I in children and adolescents with growth hormone deficiency. Thus, assessment of insulin-like growth factor I may not be reliable in children with vitamin D deficiency, and their vitamin D level should be restored to a normal condition before evaluating the IGF-I concentration.
